The rise of Occupy Wall Street has given new life to questions of economic inequality in America. Economists across the political spectrum agree that the rich are getting richer, while the middle class is shrinking. But is this just a linger effect of the Great Recession, or part of a longer trend? Why does it matter that we’re becoming less equal economically? What can be done to fix the problems?
