With Special Guests:
Susan Brower, Minnesota State Demographer
Mónica Hurtado, Racial Justice and Health Equity Organizer, Voices for Racial Justice
The decennial census happens April 1st. Not only does it provide us an opportunity to use the word decennial, it will mean big impacts and changes for Minnesota. Top of the list: if Minnesota’s count comes in low, we will lose a seat in congress. The repercussions don’t end there. An undercount in any part of the state will dilute their power in the Minnesota legislature as well. We’ll talk with State Demographer Susan Brower about Minnesota’s outlook in the census, and Mónica Hurtado about what individuals can do to help ensure an accurate count in traditionally undercounted communities.
