Featured guests: Senator Mary Kunesh, Senate District 41
Hosted by: Tane Danger
Cast: Brandon Boat, Joy Dolo, Heather Meyer, Denzel Belin, Jim Robinson, Duck Washington, and Erin Roberts.

Calling all vexillologists! Should Minnesota remake its state flag? In addition to being rather busy design-wise, the current flag has elements intended to symbolize the eradication of Native Americans from the state. What would it take to change Minnesota’s state flag? How does one design a flag to begin with? Bring your crayons and butcher paper and we’ll ask a Minnesota Senator who has been working on it.

Hosted by: Tane Danger
Cast: Brandon Boat, Joy Dolo, Heather Meyer, Denzel Belin, Jim Robinson, Duck Washington, and Erin Roberts.

The decimation of the Rondo Neighborhood by the construction of I-94 tore apart one of Minnesota’s most vibrant African American communities. What if you built a LAND BRIDGE over the highway to both physically and culturally rebuild Rondo? Could it help reunite a community and close some of Minnesota’s deep racial divides? We will talk with the executive director of Reconnect Rondo about a BIG idea to do just that.

T2P2's Fall Season Finale with special guest Eric Roper!

For our very last show of the fall 2020 season, we're going to dive deep into the hidden systems that make our region run. Where does our drinking water come from? What happens to our waste water for that matter? Where does our garbage go? Are things we recycle really recycled? There is one man in Minnesota who knows a little bit about all of these topics. Star Tribune reporter Eric Roper. It just so happens, he's also Tane's fiancé, so we were able to book him on short notice. Bonus: it'll be the first live, in-person T2P2 interview since March! Come learn something new and celebrate the closing of the fall season with Tane, Eric and the rest of the T2P2 cast!

T2P2 Fall Season: Perscription Drug Prices with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellision

Everybody thinks that prescription drug prices are too high, except for maybe prescription drug companies. In Minnesota, Attorney General Keith Ellison has formed a task force to look at ways to lower the cost of these drugs for consumers. How’s that going? Why are prescription drugs the Attorney General’s job to begin with? Is the answer that we all just drive up to the CVS in Winnipeg to get our blood thinners? We’ll ask AG Ellison about all that and more.

T2P2 Fall Season: How To Talk To Each Other Again? With Bill Doherty and Rose McGee

How do we even talk to each other anymore? We are about as divided as we have been in this country on everything from politics to racial justice to even how to treat the pandemic. How do we have good, meaningful conversations with people in our lives who we might disagree with? We’ve got two experts to help us figure it out. Bill Doherty is a trained family therapist and co-founder of Braver Angels, a nationwide program that gets people from different sides of the political spectrum together to talk and listen to one another. Rose McGee is a Bush Fellow and founder of Sweet Potato Comfort Pie. She uses baking and sharing meals as a way to bring people together to talk through hardships and challenging issues. They’re both going to help us get ready for the holidays!

Kevin Maijala from the Minnesota Historical Society has led this conversation in regard to a number of historic sites in Minnesota, and former UMN Regent Abdul Omari led these conversations about certain building names at the University. T2P2 Fall Season: What Is The Future of Public Media? With MPR President Duchesne Drew and TPT President Sylvia Strobel

On one hand, information and media has never been more democratic. Nowadays, people have more access to more immediate info than ever before. At the same time, trust in news and its accuracy is at a record low. And adding to that, an overdue focus on representation and inclusion in the news and media is giving us all a lot to think about when it comes to the future. We’ll ask two public media leaders about all that and how many tote bags they own.

T2P2’s Fall Season Premiere is almost here!

We’re less than two months from a huge election and there’s still a ton of questions about how to vote. How do we vote safely in a pandemic? Are foreign governments trying to hack our voter roles? How do no-excuse absentee ballots work? Is it better to mail in a ballot or drop it in a box? What if my ballot arrives after Election Day? Minnesota’s Secretary of State, Steve Simon will be on the show to answer your questions and maybe even reveal whether the ballot bubble is an oval or an ellipses.

Let's Get Uncomfortable: A Space To Talk About Race And Being Anti-Racist

We’re hosting an open conversation to discuss race, racism and what it means to be anti-racist. Join us on June 23 & 25 on Zoom and June 28 at MLK Park in Minneapolis MN.

Racism is everybody’s problem. For too long, the responsibility to understand and dismantle racism has fallen on communities of color. As white people, we may have recognized the world is stacked unfairly against our BIPOC friends, but then we asked them to do all the education, footwork and problem solving on it.

That ends now. It’s well past time for white people to do more of their own learning, growing, and dismantling. We want to help. Let's do our part.

Spring Season: Minneapolis: An Improvised Biography

With Special Guest:

Tom Weber, Author, Minneapolis: An Urban Biography

In his new book, author and longtime journalist Tom Weber, writes Minneapolis is Minneapolis because of the water. The confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers made this a sacred place for the Dakota people. In the 19th century, those same features attracted industrialists from the east who built logging and milling empires. And like the rivers, Minneapolis continually rises and falls. We will talk with Weber about his intimate new portrait of The Cities of Lakes, and how the people, politics, and identity of this place have changed over the years.

Join us on Monday, May 11 at 7pm CT with Brenda Hartman, MSW and Ann McIntosh, MD for thoughtful (and humorous!) LIVESTREAM conversation about a topic that affects us all...death. Specifically, end-of-life care and planning. It’s something we all know we should consider, but few of us do, at least in a proactive way. After all, the topic can be an uncomfortable one, even scary. But what if we were to pair this discussion with two of the most powerful forces in the universe: knowledge and humor? Not so scary anymore. In this livestream, The Theater of Public Policy joins forces with experts Brenda Hartman, MSW and Ann, McIntosh, MD to help us all gain more clarity, peace and insight on this very thinky topic that truly is "a matter of life and death."
