The Theater of Public Policy is helping bring longtime Chicago improv teacher and director Jason Chin to the Twin Cities the week of April 9. This is a can’t miss opportunity to learn from one of the best without having to cross state lines!
Chin was Director of the Training Center and Associate Artistic Director for the Improv Olympic theater for eight years and continues there as a teacher and creative consultant. He created the critically acclaimed improvised news satire, Whirled News Tonight, which is celebrating its ninth year and is the author of “Longform Improvisation and the Art of Zen.”
You have two chances to work with and learn from this celebrated teacher. Come to both for maximum improv enjoyment!
THE HAROLD CLASS
Wed April 11th 6pm-9pm
Created by improv pioneer, Del Close, this long-form structure is the basis (the “latin” if you will) of all long-form improvisation. Learn the basics of this essential performance act with Jason R. Chin, who is also currently teaching The Harold at iO Theater in Chicago. The Harold utilizes group work and scenes to create a recognizable theme and motif based on an audience suggestion.

FEELING THE IMPROV
Friday April 13th 6pm-9pm
This workshop stresses the importance and elegance derived from the wonderful palette of human emotion. Stop trying to be funny and start expressing your emotions and trust that it will be hilarious. The Human Condition is funny in and of itself and through emotion we can discover the incredible comedy within.
